Cross-Country Ski the Pipestone Loop
Some places in Banff National Park go into hibernation in wintertime, and others come to life. The Pipestone Valley is one of the spots that is reliably buzzing with activity on a sunny winter day. It’s home to a great network of cross-country ski trails like the local favourite Pipestone Loop. This is a 13 km circuit that’s groomed for both classic and skate-skiing, and offers great terrain and the occasional open view to an unbelievable mountain backdrop.

Local Tips
The local custom is to ski the Pipestone Loop counter-clockwise, so everyone can make the most of the flowy downhill sections.
Plan to take a trailside break when glacier-capped Mount Temple comes into view.
There are several other great trails that link up with Pipestone. Make a day of it and ski the Hector, Drummond or Merlin trails.
